Happy Mother's Day, please say a prayer for Rugby

Not a good Mother's Day. My kids have been laying on the love but my horse, Rugby is very sick again. He's in the medical barn now and the vet is watching him very carefully. He's not colicing in the usual sense of the condition but he's uncomfortable and it seems to be a continuing effect from the sickness that hit him for the last month. More bloodwork being done. I just want him to get well.

So sorry Rugby's not doing well - hope things improve and I'm sending good thoughts.

Good thoughts to you and Rugby. What on earth is wrong with him?

Thanks for the well wishes. I just got back from checking in on him, He's been given fluids and a low dose of Banamine. He seems more comfortable but Banamine can fool you that way. It will be a long night. My hunch is he's had a reaction to one of his vaccinations (in particular, the strangles vaccine) and he's still feeling the effects. The vet seems concerned with his liver function from the blood work so far. The hardest part is that he goes along for a few days and seems to be on the right track, and then he has these bouts of discomfort that make you think of colic but his gut is still moving. I wish it was something we could just give him something for and be done with it but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Well wishes coming your way for Rugby. I'll be checking back to make sure he's feeling better. I hate it when I hear a horse is ill. They are so big and powerful, yet so vulnerable.

Sorry and I'll be thinking about you.
Try and stay hopeful...the waiting is so hard when you don't know what's happening.
