My Angel

I can't believe it's 4 months now since I set Monty free from his pain and suffering. I feel the pain every day since he's gone. My Good Horse, I miss you so.

Darnitall SM, you made me get all teary eyed again!

Monty will see you again. ;)

You won't ever forget him - but maybe over time, the pain will soften and you'll remember the good parts, and enjoy those memories. I lost a much-loved horse to a fracture in turnout in 2001, and I still think about her, and miss her, today.

Nothing is more sacred than the bond between a horse and a rider. No other creature ever became so emotionally close to a human as a horse. When a horse dies, the memory lives on, because an enormous part of his owner's heart, soul, and the very existence dies also.- Stephanie M Thorn

I know how you feel. I had a similar experience years ago. Time will heal the worst of the pain. You will still remember with tears--I do, some 20 years later--but there will be a joy in the memories as well.

Each horse wins our hearts in a special way, but some are just more special than others. You were blessed to have that gift from Monty.
